Hello Sheddies! If you follow the moon, you will know it's a great time to be planning for the month ahead - and that is what we are doing this week at the shed. We have been having some exciting discussions with our members and coordinators about activities we are planning over the next few months. This week we will be trying to get those dates locked in and available to you. As always, this website will be the first place we release information about new activities. Tomorrow (Monday 24th Feb) we have our regular walkers group, meeting at 8.15 Tickle Park and then it's Pilates with Narelle at the community centre (Research Street). This will be our first class with air conditioning and we can't wait!! There will be a few of us going for coffee after Pilates - feel free to join us :-) On Tuesday Sherrille & Anne are back at the shed for the Art Drop In, you can also sign up for some of our upcoming activities including drawing for beginners and the iPhone photography club (more about sign up below). Sherille and Anne are working through a seascape - bring your own canvas or art journal/pad and they will get you started. $5 for members. Thursday is our regular yoga group with Simone and the President's drop in. The yoga ladies are a friendly bunch and we usually have a coffee and a catch up straight after the class. The drop in is also a great time to find out about and discuss new activities. On Friday we have the Goddess Gathering at 6.30pm. It's a chance to think about your month ahead and relax and refresh. ♥ Welcome circle ♥ New Moon Ceremony ♥ Discovering the monthly Goddess, crystals and essential oils ♥ Restorative Yoga ♥ Meditation https://coolumwomensshed.as.me/?appointmentType=10787799 At our members update meeting we started sign up lists for some of the new activities - you can fill this form in electronically by following this link: https://www.thewomensshed.org/join-groups.html We will be contacting those of you that have expressed an interest via this form by the end of this week :-) The paper sign up sheets will be available during the President's Drop in on Thursday 10-11am. We are just waiting to hear back about some funding for these groups - if you sign up we will let you know the latest. We are hoping that these groups will generate some arts and crafts to display at our open day on August 8th (save the date!) and that we will have some items to sell so that we can fundraise for our 'Creative Container'. The first fundraiser we are running is a new workshop from Hannah Hempenstall - 'The Path to Self Love' on 28th March. The half day workshop includes the following: • The Happiness Myth - what really makes you happy? • How To Create Your 'Self Love' Map • Unblock Limiting Beliefs • Create a New Future - a practical sequence that redirects your thinking towards Self Love • Golden Pyramid Guided Meditation – putting it all together through a guided meditation Tickets are $35 for members, $40 for non-members. Only 8 tickets available, so if you like the sound of this one - book now at https://coolumwomensshed.as.me/?appointmentType=13169047 That's about it for now - we hope you have a great week whatever you end up doing :-)
This week at the shed we start with our regular social walk at 8.15am, meeting at Tickle Park at 8.15 and followed with a chat and coffee. Register your interest on the website and we can let you know if there is a last minute cancellation due to the weather :-) Last week was the first week of our Monday morning Pilates with Narelle. Narelle was recommended to us by some of our members and we were all very impressed with the class - join us from 9am at the Research Street Community Centre. Narelle is focusing on getting us familiar with the basics of Pilates so we do the exercises correctly - it was fun, relaxing and effective all at the same time :-) Talking of relaxing, we all floated out of the Monday meditation group with Simone last week. It's a great time to set your intentions and refresh yourself ready for week ahead. Join us from 6.30pm to try it for yourself. Tuesday was the first of our Eco Dye workshops - it was fantastic to see the variety of methods and materials combined with each individual's approach. There were lots of different outcomes, with some surprises and some disappointments, and it was a great chance to experiment and see what happens. Margaret and Liz provided a handout of useful info and we left with the knowledge to try our own concoctions at home, working with plants from our gardens. The second of the workshops is coming up on Tuesday and is sold out - but we can't wait to see what they come out with. Join us on Thursday for Simone's Gentle Yoga from 9, with coffee and the president's drop in immediately after at 10am.
Then, on Saturday 15th we have our members update - come along and find out what's been going on behind the scenes, and find out what activities are coming up. The session starts at 10am with a chance to grab a cuppa and have a chat, then at 10.30 Pam from the 'Sheddie Villagers' will be letting us know what they have been up to (we are still waiting for the official name for this collaboration with Peregian Veggie Village...)Then it's the president's update, followed by another guest speaker and member, Martine who will be doing a brief overview on financial planning for women. We want to know if there are any specific subjects you would like her to cover in future sessions. Martine will be followed by more time for having a chat and a cuppa which is where all the best questions get asked ;-) We will be asking you for your input on a few different subjects including the timing of the new drawing group and iPhone photography group. We will also have a PC there if you have any questions about the booking system. After the Members catchup, Abbey from Whistling Kite Healing Therapies will be running an energy transformation workshop - Abbey is a trained Bowen therapist and has been practising for over 17 years. We are quite excited about what the session will be like as she has designed it especially for us !! Tickets are $20 and only available if booked in advance- please go to https://www.thewomensshed.org/bookings.html to book into any of our activities. Booking online really saves time , helps our teachers start classes on time and makes sure you get a spot. That's about it for this week- hope to see you at the shed soon! Hi Sheddies! This is a quick note to remind you about our quarterly members update happening Saturday 15th February from 10am. We are trialing a more social and less formal meetup, so come and join us for a cuppa and ask away. We have purposely padded the session with half an hour either side so that if you have specific questions we can help you out.
Join us from 10am for a chance to find out what is coming up at the shed, hear about new team members and give your feedback on options for the future. There will be two guest speakers including an update from Pam about our 'Sheddie Village' gardening group and Martine about important aspects of financial planning for women. There will be time to chat and just catch up with each other. If you have had trouble tracking down event info, or you have problems using our booking system we will have a computer and an iPad there so we can show you where to find things. The catch up finishes at 12. Approximate timings are: 10am - 10.30 : Early birds cuppa 10.30 -11.15 am : Members update 11.15am : Guest speaker - TBC 11.30-12pm : Stragglers cuppa and more time for questions/plans and chat Reconnect, Expand and Empower! with Abbey from Whistling Kite Therapies, follows the members catch up at 12.30 - tickets available now for $20. Join Abbey from Whistling Kite Therapies for an introductory session of Energetic Healing, designed especially for our members. Abbey is trained in a variety of energy healing techniques and is a fully qualified Remedial Massage and Bowen Therapist and an Access Consciousness® Facilitator The session aims to give you a taster of energy healing and is designed to:
Tickets are limited - please book early to avoid disappointment : https://coolumwomensshed.as.me/?appointmentType=12992697 News happens first here, on our website If you hadn't noticed, we have been putting our news out here and sharing it to Facebook, because : a) not everyone uses Facebook b) Facebook doesn't always show everyone our posts So if you want the latest, please check this page and our calendar regularly. We also have this set up as an RSS feed so you can get notified when we post here - we can show you that at the meetup as well. That's all folks - hope to see you soon! Can you believe it's February already? We can't! Time seems to be zipping by and we've been busy having fun and planning new activities for our members. We've had lots of members put their hands up and offer to help, which is making it easier for us to get more stuff on the calendar. If you want the inside scoop, please remember we have a social meetup planned at the shed for all members on the 15th February from 10 am. These informal gatherings are a chance to ask questions and discuss our plans for 2020. More details will be on our website soon. Last week we had another sausage sizzle and we really want to thank those of you that turned up to help - it was a lot of work but we had fun and it was a good chance to meet some other members. We also had a lot of interest from our customers about the Shed. Other activities in January included more walks organised by our member Marie, our first outing as a quiz team and a trip to the movies. We also started our art drop in, a gardening group at Veggie village and had the first goddess gathering of the year. This Monday we have two new classes to try - Pilates with Narelle at 9am and Meditation with Simone at 6.30pm, as well as our regular walk meeting at Tickle Park at 8.15am. Please book in via our bookings page as this gives our instructor an idea of how many people are coming, and really speeds in the check in process. Then, on Tuesday we have the first of our sold out Eco Dye Workshops run by Margaret Moon (please note art drop in won't be running this week). It's also the first Tuesday of the month and that means that our quiz team are meeting from 6pm at Coolum Surf Club - all welcome :-) On Thursday from 9am we have gentle yoga with Simone, followed by coffee and the President's 'Drop In' 10-11am. Finally this week, Marie is organising another walk this Sunday at Maroochy Botanic Gardens from 7am. You can let her know you are going on our Facebook group - Women's Shed Social

As people all over the country and world respond to the effects of the Australian fires, the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild has shared lots of information on how to make items for affected wildlife. The response has been amazing and they have asked people to 'PAUSE CRAFTING' because they have been inundated with items and need to regroup. However, if you would like to contribute you can still make things for the future, or donate to our local wildlife centres. We have messaged them to ask if they want these items and will update here when we get a response. We have added direct links and files below to the patterns so you can get started :-).
