Greetings Sheddies.
Well Easter, the school holidays and two public holidays are over; we hope you enjoyed the holidays/break and had fun with family and friends.  Welcome to those new members attending Brainiacs and the walk group.  Are you eager to improve your fitness after all those easter eggs and hot cross buns?  We offer a selection of fitness/wellness activities, so come along and try our fitness classes, yoga or walking as outlined below.  Remember to book activities on Hello Club.

  • CWS CAPS: new navy caps have arrived for those who ordered one, also grey caps available, order in extras on Hello Club.

  • FITNESS TRAINING WITH ROBYN:  fitness sessions have included Resistance Training & Box Fit.  Robyn is keen to see women increase their fitness, balance and strength so classes are designed to encourage and support in a relaxed yet fun atmosphere.  Sessions run in 4/5 week blocks.  The next block of Resistance training sessions start Wed 10 May for 4 weeks.  Robyn is planning to run BoxFit again, so keep an eye on the calendar.

  • YOGA WITH SIMONE:  this Gentle Flow Yoga class is open to all ages and abilities, suitable for beginners or those new to yoga along with those that want to slow their practice down.  Classes will move at a slower and steady pace, there are modifications and also option for more challenging asanas suitable for the student’s ability.  Come and meet the lovely Simone who will gently guide these yoga classes.

  • WALKING GROUP:  the March away walk to Pt Cartwright, took in the riverside, lighthouse and beach areas.  A fun morning with great weather, interesting walk and terrific coffee at the local café.  Remember to book in on Hello Club for our walks so we know who is attending on the day.  The Away Walks are the first Tues of each month, always check both Hello Club details and Band for directions and the map.

  • CREATIVE CONNECTIONS & BEGINNERS SEWING:  we now have Creative Connections Sewing Sessions.  Are you keen to improve your sewing skills, mend items, or finish a project?  Well come and join us on the 4th Thursday of the month, 11am – 1pm, Elizabeth will assist in all manner of things related to sewing.  You can bring your own machine or use ours at the Shed.  Other Creative Connections sessions take place the 2nd Thursday of the month, 11am – 1pm, so bring along any creative endeavours you are working on or art/craft items you would like to share with your fellow Sheddies.  And / Or come for a chat.

  • OTT (ON THE TOOLS):  are you keen to learn how to use a variety of useful tools?  Recently we have been making cheese boards and tea light holders out of camphor laurel slabs using our band saw, table saw, thicknesser etc.  You can bring your own project to make / mend or join us with our projects, like our outdoor table.

  • FUNDRAISING FOR CWS:  would you like to help us raise funds with minimal effort?  Coolum Womens Shed is registered for Containers for Change.  All cans, glass and plastic bottles marked with a 10c stamp can be recycled.  It is located in Lysaght St near the German Bakehouse in the Coolum Industrial Estate.  Our CWS code is # C10120544, $$$ allocated to our account.

  • BRAINIACS – Cards & games:  Don’t be fooled by the name of the group.  Our members have great fun testing their skills in Canasta, 500, Philadelphia, with some keen to learn Mah-jong and other board games.  Lots of fun and laughter twice a week, Thursdays @1pm, Saturdays @1pm.

  • ACTIVITIES ON HOLD:  Due to some of our volunteer coordinators being unavailable to run groups (holidays, family commitments etc ) these more specialised activities are on hold for the moment: belly dancing, mud club pottery, kayaking.  If you happen to have expertise or special skills in these areas and keen to volunteer please contact us at [email protected]  A reminder we don't have a contact phone number as we have no full time admin support – CWS is run wholly by our volunteers.

  • CWS ACTIVITIES SUB COMMITTEE:  are you keen to become more involved in planning our activities?  Our Activities Sub Committee needs a few more helping hands to plan and organise activities for the Shed.  Contact Georgia or Ric.

  •    GARDENING:  are you aware of the Coolum Community Native Nursery?  The place to go for native plants, shrubs and trees.  They are located 157 Warran Rd Yaroomba,  www.coolumnatives.com

  • COOL - IT TRAINING SESSIONS FOR HELLO CLUB AND BAND:  We understand the challenge of learning our tech & booking systems.  Volunteer Coordinators and members are invited to attend individual IT tech sessions at the Shed every 2nd Thurs of the month at10.30am.  Book a timeslot on Hello Club and the lovely Georgia and Ric will guide you in these sessions.

  • DEMO DAYS:  Demos continue to run as requested by our members.  Check Hello Club for more opportunities before and during Creative Connections (now runs once per month)..  A Demo Days chat group has been set up on Band so you can add activities you would like to see covered.

  • HELLO CLUB - ACTIVITIES, MEETUPS AND WORKSHOPS (SCHEDULED BOOKED): REMINDER always book & pay on Hello Club, if you are unsure how to do this ask your activity volunteer coordinator or a member of the Committee or attend COOL IT training sessions.  Always check CWS website for latest updates www.thewomensshed.org

  • BAND: (app, chat platform for updates on our groups) when you become a member you can access Band.  Remember to check FEED and CHATS for general CWS updates and information.

  • VOLUNTEERING AT CWS:  activities & events are conducted by our team of volunteers.  Without their support, we cannot conduct our low-cost activities.  Several tasks are required to set up, supervise, check attendance and support the activity.  If you have skills you would like to share eg kayaking, tools, mosaics, outdoor activities, or new ideas for activities & workshops and are interested in becoming an Activity Volunteer Coordinator, please contact Deilia.
Kind regards Deilia and the Management Committee.
