Hi everyone, we hope you are having a great weekend? We just needed to let you know about a few changes to the timetable this week :-) First up - MONDAY WALKERS - normally leave at 8.15 from Tickle Park - this week, looking for a cooler walk, the group is starting at 6.00 am heading up Mount Coolum. Meet Helen in the car park at 5.55am if you want to join them - bring plenty of water and a hat. Next up - Tuesday we have another sausage sizzle at Bunnings Noosa. We are a little shorthanded for the last shift 1.30-4.30 so if you can pop along and give us a hand you will be welcomed warmly :-). Sausage Sizzling means that we wont be able to run the Art drop In this Tuesday, so the shed will be closed. We will be doing ECO Dyeing the following 2 Tuesdays and then Art Drop in will be back on 18th February. Tickets for ECO Dyeing are available on our website, under the bookings page. Thursday is our lovely gentle yoga with Simon and Marie is organising a beach walk Sunday 2nd Feb - check our calendar for more details . On Thursday, some of our members are going to see 'BOMBSHELL' at Nambour Majestic theater, screening at 6.30 pm. Today our 'Sheddie Villagers' gardening group attended the working bee at Peregian Veggie Village where they met other Veggie Villagers and discussed their plans for the garden plots sponsored by Auspost. They found out more about what's involved in keeping a plot at Veggie Village and are now planning how they will work the plots together. If you want to join this group of green-fingered girls, please get in touch and we can give your details to their coordinator, Pam. Noosa Park Walk - Tall trees followed by great coffee The heavy rain last night didn't put off our walkers who met this morning for a gentle trek thought the Noosa National Park. We don't know if they climbed over or limbo'd under this enormous tree that was in their way ;-). Our regular walkers meet every Monday morning at 8.15 at Tickle Park Coolum for a walk followed by a chat and coffee, but you are always welcome to suggest your own walks if you can't make that time - if you do Facebook you can join https://www.facebook.com/groups/WomensShedWalkers/ or you can let our coordinators know you are coming by booking in here First Goddess Gathering of 2020 - coming up this Friday Join Simone and allow yourself to reconnect with your sacred, authentic Inner Goddess Self. If you want to get involved in growing organic vegetables, and maybe participating in a roster to maintain the plot(s) please join them for the working bee at Peregian Veggie Village this Sunday from 9am . You will be introduced to how the veggie villaged works, talk plots. Covered shoes, hat, protective clothing are required. Morning tea is at 10.00am. It's the perfect weather for it. As well as our popluar Monday walk, this week Marie is organising a walk this Sunday starting from Park Edge Road, Sunshine Beach at 7.30 am. You can park on Parkedge Road as not a lot of tourists know this spot. We will then meet near the entry and go from there. Pack a snack and a drink and we can have a sit down, a chat and overlook the awesome view of Laguna Bay. If time permits,we can have a cuppa somewhere afterwards. Look forward to seeing you there !! Comment in the FB event or book on our website to let us know you are coming. Sharp Sheddies Off To A Great Start - next quiz Tuesday 21st JanThe 'Sharp Sheddies' made their debut at the Coolum Beach Surf Club Quiz night this week, and although there were some controversial answers, did a great job - we even won one of the rounds! The team name of the night definitely went to 'Trivia Newton John '. We will be going to the quiz night for the next 3 weeks to get the team established, and then make our plans for trivia domination!- if you want to join our team just let us know by booking on the website. Eco Dye Workshops with Margaret Moon, 4th and 11th and FebruaryComing up in February we are really lucky to have Margaret Moon from EcoDye Queensland providing 2 workshops on Eco Dyeing. On the 4th Febreuary she will be taking you through how to use local plants to dye paper which can then be crafted into cards, or used in collage, or any other artistic use you can think of! ($25 for members). Then on the 11th February, Margaret will take you through the basics of Eco dyeing with silk, with a silk scarf to take home included in the price of $35 for members. Margaret's interest in Eco dyeing began when she moved to Boreen point. Margaret is donating her time as a fundraiser for the shed and therefore we are able to offer this workshop for the bargain price of $25 . These spots won't last long - book here https://www.thewomensshed.org/bookings.html
As people all over the country and world respond to the effects of the Australian fires, the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild has shared lots of information on how to make items for affected wildlife. The response has been amazing and they have asked people to 'PAUSE CRAFTING' because they have been inundated with items and need to regroup. However, if you would like to contribute you can still make things for the future, or donate to our local wildlife centres. We have messaged them to ask if they want these items and will update here when we get a response. We have added direct links and files below to the patterns so you can get started :-). If you do have a Facebook account you can also follow them directly here: https://www.facebook.com/arfsncrafts Wilvo's is still accepting joey pouches according to their website NB - MESSAGE FROM THE GUILD 12/1/2020 -UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE ALL CRAFT HUBS ARE CLOSED FOR STOCKTAKE. Things are getting busy as plans for the New Year start to materialise. A few of us are recovering as I write this - our very first Bunnings Sausage Sizzle seemed to come up much sooner than we were expecting, and an amazing team of helpers descended on Noosaville to sizzle over 500 sausages! Thank you to everyone that helped, including the Coolum Men's Shed who generously lent us all of their equipment and inside info. If you want to get involved we are doing it all again on the 28th January :-)
Anyway, enough talk of sausages. What's happening this week? Monday Walkers meet at Tickle Park at 8.15 am, with coffee afterwards
Quarterly meetup- members and volunteers
Saturday, February 15⋅10:00am – 12:00pm Every 3 months on the third Saturday We have restructured our meetings to make our catch ups more enjoyable and informal. It will also reduce the need to distribute formal notices, agendas and minutes which is using up a lot of our volunteers' time - time we would rather spend having fun with the sheddies! This is a chance for our volunteers and members to get together and discuss what's happening at the shed. Each meetup will be a chance for us to share information and discuss options. Join us for a cuppa and morning tea - if you have something you want to hear more about, or raise at this gathering just drop us an email. Don't worry if you can't make it - we will share a summary via the news section of our website. Do not worry - the management committee will continue to have formal committee meetings - please contact us if you need to attend or put something on the agenda. Sometimes you don't know what you know until your team mates are looking at you in astonishment because you know something that you thought everyone knew... Yes that's a long sentence but you get the idea .... We are setting up a new quiz team or two - join our social sheddies for a quiz night at Coolum Surf Club. No cost to attend but booking let's us know you are coming :-) You can book here You don't have to be a member to try any of our activities, but if you plan to attend on a regular basis please join us - you can add membership onto any booking as an option. |
