Wow what a year we've had!! It's time to get together and enjoy a bit of downtime :-). It's really crazy to think that a lot of us didn't even know each other this time last year, and these new friendships and connections are definitely worth celebrating!

This year we asked some of our members what they would prefer - barefoot bowls or dinner? The answer was a resounding 'BOTH'!

So join us on December the 14th for Barefoot Bowls at Coolum Bowls Club at 5pm followed by Dinner at Canteen from 7.30pm - come to both or come to either! There were also suggestions of going on somewhere afterwards - but we will leave that bit up to you!

As we will need to confirm numbers soon, please RSVP to coolumwomensshed@gmail.com, letting us know in the subject line if you are coming to 'BOWLS', 'CANTEEN' or 'BOTH" to secure a spot!

As we look forward to the New Year, we would love to hear your suggestions about what you want to see at the Shed. Or if you just want to give us some feeback- here's your chance.

So the Halloween treats have been replaced instantly with mince pies in the shops, and the Christmas ads seem to follow you wherever you go. Suddenly every weekend seems to have a 'Christmas' event - and we still have 49 days to go!!
Stay chilled this year and look after yourself with the Coolum Women's Shed. We have two great options for you- this weekend treat yourself to a 2 hour yoga immersion with Veronica :
Kaula Tantra Yoga Immersion is a beautiful, deeply meditative, conscious practice. The series, which comes from ancient lineage and is based on the teachings of Bhagavan Shanmuka Anantha Natha, combines sound, movement, pranayama, standing and floor based postures. The focus is on coming into your body through experience, relaxing into postures, trusting your body and intuition and giving your nervous system time to integrate through long holds, repeated sivasana and breath retention. The process is slow and mindful, allowing you to experience your own 'inner world' more clearly.
The 2 hour class is $30 for members and can be booked here
Starting Monday we have our 'Learn to Meditate Four Week Course' with Simone. Simone runs our popular Thursday classes and also ran the very chilled Sunday Yoga/Meditation combo:
*Week One - Meditation Styles
*Week Two - Mindfulness
*Week Three - Affirmations
*Week Four - Gratitude Journalling
There are many benefits gained by practicing meditation and you will learn these through this four week course.
You will also learn how to incorporate meditation into your daily routine, through simple tools and skills which over time will allow you to lead a more peaceful and joyful life.
Sign up for the four weeks for $68, and use your new skills to keep the stress out of Christmas. More info and booking details here

Our purpose - connection through recreation

Our purpose is to connect the women of Coolum and surrounds by providing opportunities to participate in a broad range of recreation-based activities on a regular or casual basis.

We believe that regular participation in recreational activities with others promotes a sense of connection and contributes to a person’s wellbeing in many ways.

Our space, away from responsibilities of home and work, allows women a chance to focus on their needs and build supportive friendships with women of all life stages and backgrounds.

Connection is our key motivator for sustained participation in activities that contribute to health and wellbeing. Ongoing participation has a longer lasting and greater benefit to women than one-off or short courses. We use the phrase ‘Connection through Recreation’ to express our purpose but there are many more benefits associated with membership of the shed.
