Weekly Update

1/3/2020

Well hello Sheddies! And just like that, February is over and we are into March! The year is speeding by and we hope that you are finding these updates easier to keep up with what's happening at the shed.

Last week was pretty busy, and we are pretty tired - so forgive us if this update is brief! Here are some of the things that we achieved last week:
  • Saw our first produce from our Sheddie Village gardening group
  • Attended a sponsors morning tea with Maroochydore RSL (and met some gorgeous pups!)
  • Finalised dates for beginners drawing, art therapy with Helen Bradshaw, Women that run with the Wolves book club, the new vocal group, a sewing bee to make yoga bolsters, a mixed media workshop with Monika, monthly journalling group, a pottery workshop with Tanya from Arcadia, HIIT classes, breathing workshops, a couple of nutrition talks and a healthy snack workshop (yum!)
  • Attended a grants training workshop with Sunshine Coast Council

Here is what we are focusing on this week:
  • Adding the final details for the new health and wellness activities we have planned
  • Finalising other activities we have in the pipeline
  • Setting up contacts for the new groups you have signed up for  (it's not too late - click here to get on the list)
  • Attending more grants information...
  • Trying to work out if we have anywhere/any money to put a studio that we have been offered (anyone au fait with planning/happens to have some spare land lying around - please get in touch....)
  • Confirming new date for compassionate communication course that had to be postponed
  • STILL working on our booking system/membership/website options....

And finally, this is what is coming up for you to do with our members :
  • Monday - Walk at 8.15 from Tickle Park, Pilates with Narelle at 9am, Monday Meditation with Simone at 6.30pm.
  • Tuesday - Art Drop in no longer running as a weekly event, instead we are bringing you a mix of activities that will change from week to week, some , may repeat on a monthly basis e.g. eco dyeing,  drawing for beginners, journalling, talking money etc.
  • Thursday - Gentle yoga with Simone at 9am followed by President Drop In at 10 am. Sharp Sheddies Quiz team heading to the Sol Bar in Maroochydore that evening - arrive 6.30pm for a 7pm start
  • Sunday - International Women's Day, meet our walking group in Buderim to head up to the falls from Harry's restaurant.

Of course all the details of our activities are available via our calendar here . Ok that's it for now, hope to see you at the shed soon!

Our purpose - connection through recreation

Our purpose is to connect the women of Coolum and surrounds by providing opportunities to participate in a broad range of recreation-based activities on a regular or casual basis.

We believe that regular participation in recreational activities with others promotes a sense of connection and contributes to a person’s wellbeing in many ways.

Our space, away from responsibilities of home and work, allows women a chance to focus on their needs and build supportive friendships with women of all life stages and backgrounds.

Connection is our key motivator for sustained participation in activities that contribute to health and wellbeing. Ongoing participation has a longer lasting and greater benefit to women than one-off or short courses. We use the phrase ‘Connection through Recreation’ to express our purpose but there are many more benefits associated with membership of the shed.
