All management committee positions are open to any member. A new committee is voted in at each AGM in Sept/Oct. 

The Management Committee ​administers the Coolum Women's Shed in adherence to its constitution. It is made up of members who are passionate about the Coolum Women’s Shed, and have a desire to see it thrive and grow.
The committee comprises the following office bearers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and up to five general members.

The Management Committee is elected by members to:
  • Review and develop strategy on behalf of members
  • Ensure appropriate governance is in place by developing and regularly reviewing required policies and procedures 
  • Understand and comply with the organisation’s policies and uphold the rules as presented in the Constitution
  • Ensure ongoing financial solvency
  • Ensure that activities are in keeping with the organisation’s purpose, vision and values
  • Consider the needs and interests of the organisation through both formal and informal consultation with members, including voting
  • Represent the Coolum Women’s Shed when interacting with external stakeholders and members of the wider community
  • Always display appropriate behaviour when performing the duties of this role, by being courteous and welcoming to members, participants and the public

A Management Committee member may also be a general volunteer, helping to run activities or assist in other day-to-day tasks. This should be seen as separate to the Management Committee role.

President - oversees the  strategic direction and running of the Shed. Chairs committee meetings and ensures compliance with regulation and the constitution. Represents and promotes the CWS at external events and encourages member participation in events and activities. 

Vice President - supports the President and stands in as acting President when the President is unavailable. 

Secretary - administrative role, managing records, handling correspondence, and ensuring meetings are conducted properly. The secretary is also responsible for legal compliance, such as lodging annual statements and notifying authorities of changes to the association's details.

Treasurer - manages the organisation’s finances and reporting system, ensuring that a true and accurate financial position is provided to the Management Committee and members. Makes recommendations regarding the organisation’s financial health, enabling the Management Committee to make informed decisions regarding strategic direction and resourcing.

General Committee Member - attends committee meetings and participates in the planning and running of the Coolum Women’s Shed.  A general committee member commonly also fills one of the task based roles listed below.
