Volunteer Roles

The Coolum Women's Shed is run by an amazing team of women who volunteer because they want to make the shed a place where women can connect and pursue mutual interests. A small management team is assisted by many other member volunteers who help spread the load. Our organisation is entirely run by volunteers - the more volunteers we have, the more we can do.  We have identified specific tasks that members can undertake to help us in the running of the Shed.

If you have something that you would like to see happen at the shed, why not get involved and set it up?  We understand that taking on a big role is too much commitment for many but if you would like to put your hand up for smaller jobs, or one-off events then we would love to hear from you.  We have women of all life stages involved and are always happy to welcome other women to the team.

Activities Group Coordinator

Organises a regular meetup of people interested in a specific activity e.g. walking, craft. Our groups are like mini-clubs and are a great way to get to know other women with similar interests.   Group coordinators are volunteers that are willing to take responsibility for:
  • Organising regular activities or workshops
  • Checking in attendees, welcoming new people to the group, and setting them up with what they need to know
  • Following shed protocols  for using the building
  • Helping members navigate our apps
This person has a personal interest in the activity and a passion for sharing their skills and knowledge. Ideally each group needs a minimum of two coordinators to share responsibility and enable the group to continue when one of them can’t attend.
